Fondé en 1175, l'hôpital Saint-Jean abritait jusqu'en 1870 l'Hôtel-Dieu d'Angers, l'un des plus anciens hôpitaux de France encore existant. L'hôpital Saint-Jean fait l’objet d’un classement au titre des monuments historiques par la liste de 1840. Il accueille depuis 1967 la tapisserie du Chant du Monde et devient le musée Jean-Lurçat et de la tapisserie contemporaine. Cloister of the Hôpital Saint-Jean (12th c, classified MH in 1840)

Until 1870, the Hôpital Saint-Jean, founded in 1175, housed the Hôtel-Dieu d'Angers, one of the oldest surviving hospitals in France. The Hôpital Saint-Jean is classified as a MH - French National heritage by the 1840 list. Since 1967, it has hosted the tapestry of the Chant du Monde and became the Musée Jean-Lurçat and contemporary tapestry.
