English: We have to ask ourselves as Canadians, is there a justification for political interference in a court case? We don't want to live in a country where powerful corporations can put pressure on politicians and then they turn around and start making phone calls to crown prosecutors and attorneys general, to let their friends off the hook. That is a dark and dangerous path that to we don’t want to go down as a country. The damage to our society, indeed our economy, when the message is sent around the world that in Canada, if you’re big enough and powerful enough, the rules don’t apply to you. I don’t want to live in that kind of country, and I know Canadians don’t want that to happen either. Had a lot of media interviews with outlets from across the country today on the SNC-Lavalin affair. Justin Trudeau has lost the moral authority to govern and he must resign. Français : Nous devons nous demander en tant que Canadiens si l’ingérence politique dans une affaire juridique est justifiée? Nous ne voulons pas vivre dans un pays où de puissantes entreprises peuvent exercer une pression sur les politiciens pour qu’ils fassent des appels téléphoniques afin que que les procureurs fédéraux aident leurs amis. C’est une voie sombre et dangereuse que nous ne voulons pas prendre en tant que pays. C’est mauvais pour notre société, et en fait pour notre économie, quand nous envoyons au reste du monde le message qu’au Canada, si vous êtes assez gros et assez puissant, les règles ne s’appliquent pas. Je ne veux pas vivre dans ce genre de pays, et je sais que les Canadiens ne le veulent pas non plus. J’ai eu beaucoup d’entrevues avec les médias partout au pays sur l’affaire SNC-Lavalin aujourd’hui. Justin Trudeau a perdu l’autorité morale de gouverner et il doit démissionner. |
