An early Post Medieval button.
Description
English: The object is a circular slightly domed button. Meredith suggests these types of buttons date to the 16th to 17th centuries. It is made from cast copper alloy. 

In plan the button is circular and in profile it is slightly domed. The outer surface is decorated by a series of small annular rings stamped to form a central flower bordered by a scalloped edge. The centre of the flower has stamped low-relief pellets. On this surface there are traces of gilding. The reverse of the button is hollow with an integral lug with a hole on the centre.
The surface of the object has red copper corrosion. The button weighs 7.38g and measures 26.5mm in diameter and 9.5mm thick.
