Summary[edit]
DescriptionAmerikaanse torpedobootjager (escort destroyer) USS Harold C. Thomas (DE-21, Eva, Bestanddeelnr 903-2800.jpg |
English: The U.S. Navy Barnegat-class small seaplane tender USS Humboldt (AVP-21) underway. She is painted in Camouflage Measure 32, Design 5D which she wore circa from early 1944 to mid-1945. The wartime censor has removed the radar antennas.
Note: The ship is falsly identified as the Evarts-class destroyer escort USS Harold C. Thomas (DE-21). The "battlestar" mentioned below is actually the U.S. Naval Aviation emblem as used at that time. The description below for USS Harold C. Thomas (DE-21) contradicts itself with dating the photo to 1949 ("17 maart 1949") while the ship was scrapped in 1947 ("in 1947 verschroot"). USS Harold C. Thomas was scrapped in 1947. The USS Humboldt was decommissioned on 19 March 1947. From 29 March 1949 to 30 September 1969 she served with the U.S. Coast Guard as USCGC Humboldt (WAVP-372).
