I have, therefore, made it a rule to compromise, so to say, and toexsect the largest lobe only, thus lessening the gravity of theinterference. As a rule the patient is benefited by the partialremoval, as soon as the immediate effects of the operation areover. Then it remains to treat the smaller lobe which was leftalone.
