Boston Massacre.A quarrel arose gradually in the eveningon the streets of Boston near the oldState House, between the soldiers andthe citizens. A portion of the mainguard were called out to quiet the dis-turbance, and a fray took place. Thesoldiers fired, killing three and woundingeight, two of them mortally. CrispusAttucks, a mulatto, was the first to fall.Capt. Preston and several soldiers werecommitted to jail, and afterward tried,but all were acquitted save two soldierswho were convicted of manslaughter. 1770. March 6. Removal of theTroops.
