Notes Work is clearly signed by [[[:w:James Sullivan Lincoln|James Sullivan Lincoln]]. An informational paper next to the painting in the State House attributes it to Leutze, but that must refer to the other, larger portrait of Burnside on horseback, which is also in the State House.
