Italiano: Le Amazon Spheres sulla destra della fotografia, tre giardini d' inverno sferici che fanno parte del campus della sede centrale di Amazon a Seattle , Washington, Stati Uniti. Tra le cose che colpiscono di più a Seattle c'è il divario immenso tra classi sociali. Da una parte un numero delle persone indigenti che vivono in strada, paragonabile solo alle città più povere del mondo e dall'altra, un numero molto ristretto di persone molto ricche alla quale sembra essere dedicata la gran parte della città e dei servizi. La classe sociale intermedia è fluida e volatile, rappresentata da lavoratori molto giovani perlopiù impiegata sul fronte delle nuove tecnologie che però viene rimpiazzata con pesonale sempre più giovane con grande rapidità. La sostenibilità dunque di un regime come quello innescato a Seattle sembra impossibile e capace di generare esclusivamente diseguaglianze e povertà a lungo termine
English: The Amazon Spheres on the right of the photograph, three spherical conservatories that form part of the campus of Amazon's headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States. Among the things that are most striking in Seattle is the immense divide between social classes. On the one hand, a number of destitute people living on the street, comparable only to the poorest cities in the world, and on the other, a very small number of very rich people to whom most of the city and services seem to be dedicated. The intermediate social class is fluid and volatile, represented by very young workers mostly employed on the front of new technologies which however are replaced with increasingly young people very quickly. The sustainability of a regime like the one triggered in Seattle therefore seems impossible and capable of generating long-term inequalities and poverty only. |
