Summary[edit]
DescriptionAmanita novinupta Tulloss & J. Lindgr 401076.jpg |
Amanita novinupta Tulloss & J. Lindgr. Image location: Bon Tempe Reservoir, Marin Co., California, USA I’m calling these Amanita novinupta-early. They look like the ones I found up near Santa Rosa last year (MO # 5264) also in November. They have most of the characteristics of the standard A. novinupta that we normally find in this area in late winter. However, the reddish “blushing” is minimal or almost non-existent and the bulbs tend to be more consistently elliptical. The spores are amyloid and ~ 8.2-10.1 X 7.0-8.0 microns. Recognized by sight
