On the way to Everest Base Camp, a sight of the most beautiful and technical moutain called Ama Dablam can be savoured. It's ritual to bow down to this majestic mountain while continuing your trek in Himalayas.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This picture was taken when I went on a trekking expedition to the base of Everest. I cherish this experience with all my heart and hope to inspire someone to take this journey.

Captivated by the stunning view of Ama Dablam at its best from the road after Namche Bazaar! The mighty Himalayas never cease to amaze me. As you leave Namche Bazar, this trek will become your favourite string of spots to capture iconic photographs. "Ama Dablam" means "Mother's necklace" in the Sherpa language. The mountain is named after its long ridges that resemble a mother's arms embracing her child, with a hanging glacier at the centre that looks like a pendant. Ama Dablam is considered one of the most technically challenging mountains in the world to climb, due to its steep and exposed ridges, mixed rock and ice climbing, and unstable weather conditions. As of 2021, only 30% of attempted climbs have succeeded. In 2006, a group of Sherpa climbers successfully installed a 400 kg (880 lb) solar-powered webcam on Ama Dablam's summit, making it one of the world's highest webcams. The webcam provides live footage of the mountain and weather conditions to researchers, climbers, and armchair adventurers around the world.

Ama Dablam is believed to be a "holy mountain" by the Sherpa people, who consider it the home of their patron deity, Miyo Lo Chung Chung, and a symbol of protection and stability. They perform an annual puja (religious ceremony) at the base of the mountain to honour and seek blessings from the mountain gods.
