Summary[edit]
DescriptionAltstädter Pforte, spätgotisches Doppeltor.jpg |
English: The city walls, made of basalt and quarry stone, enclosed the castle hill to the north, east and south. Thigh walls connected them to the castle. A garden area to the west was walled in in the first half of the 15th century.
Two round shell towers and walls to the west of the church and east of the castle have been preserved to this day. Of the three city gates, only the old town gate on the south side from around 1300 still exists today. It appears as a gate tower with a ridge-arched passage.
