Description
Deutsch: Unter einem Baum vor einem aus Landschaft und Zeltlager bestehenden Hintergrund ist der gerüstete Albrecht Dürer im Kampf mit einem am Boden liegenden Gegner. Am linken Bildrand steht Kaiser Maximilian I.. Aus einer Truhe wird das dem Künstler gestiftete Ehrenkleid genommen. Im Hintergrund stehen drei Helden der Vorzeit dar: Herkules mit der Keule für das Altertum, David für die Bibel, der Gotenkönig Theoderich für die Neuzeit. Drei weibliche Tugenden stehen ihnen gegenüber: Iustitia mit der Mauerkrone, Fortitudo mit dem Helm und Prudentia, die Klugheit und Weisheit. Das Programm entwarf vermutlich Johann Stabius, der Berater Maximilans I., der auf dem Relief hinter dem Kaiser steht.
