Summary[edit]

Description
English: Allamere Laithe. At the foot of Lower Colgath Hill. Laithe is the old Yorkshire word for a barn. English Heritage states that a laithe is "A building combining a cow-house with crop storage space". This ruined barn had more extensive building on the north side. From the same source, a laithe house is a farm worker’s house attached to agricultural buildings. A lot of the laithes I came across were in a state of disrepair.
