Summary[edit]

Description "The restoration of Milan to the Empire". The heraldic standard of the Visconti (the Biscione), to whom the Duchy of Milan was granted in 1395 by Wenceslaus IV, King of Bohemia, King of the Romans and Holy Roman Emperor, is shown being returned symbolically to another Emperor. Supposedly Maximilian I (died 1519), yet that event ocurred in 1535, when Charles V was Emperor. (see w:Duchy of Milan). The coats of arms of the six Prince-Electors of the Holy Roman Empire are shown below, on either side of the Imperial Eagle (Reichsadler)
