Hand eine Peitsche (kentron) und der Linken die Zügel, darüber eine Tafel mit der Aufschrift, wobei die beiden letzten Buchstaben sich l. neben der Tafel befinden. Im Abschnitt eine ...

Rückseite: ΣΙΛΑ-NOΣ. Adlerpaar nach r., einen Hasen kröpfend.

Kommentar: Die Tetradrachmen mit den repräsentiven Motiven des olympischen Wagensieges und der beiden Adler auf der Rückseite gehören zusammen mit der Goldprägung, den zahlreichen Bronzemünzen und den typengleichen Dekadrachmen zum außergewöhnlichen Finanzprogramm Akragas, welches nach der Zerstörung Selinunts und Himeras 409 v. Chr. druch Karthago einsetzte. Akragas versuchte mit allem Mitteln die drohende karthagische Gefahr durch Aufrüstung zu bannen, was aber 406 v. Chr. mit der Zerstörung der Stadt offensichtlich misslang.
