Akai GX-77 tape recorder, with head cover lifted, in play mode (all moving rollers raised)

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Akai GX-77 tape recorder, with head cover lifted, in stop mode (all moving rollers lowered). The GX-77 was an overengineered autoreversing mechanism. The central roller, traversing almost 20 cm vertically, is lowered in stop/rewind/ff modes, and raised for playback/recording/rewind/ff. Likewise, side pressure rollers are raised for playback/recording, albeit only one in engaged for each of the two directions.
