Deutsch: Vorderseite: [AVT K ΠΟVΠ]ΗΝΙΟC [Κ ΒΑΛΒΕΙ]ΝΟC // [Κ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝ / ΚΑΙ CΕΒΒΒ] [sic!]. Drapierte Panzerbüsten des Balbinus l. nach r., des Gordianus mittig nach r. und des Pupienus r. nach l., alle mit Lorbeerkranz.
Rückseite: CΕV ΑΔ[ΡΙ ΑΙΓEΑΙΩΝ ΝΕΩ Ν] // ΔΠC [Jahr 284]. Hygieia steht nach r. und füttert eine Schlange aus einer Schale. Ihr gegenüber steht Asklepios, Kopf nach l., und stützt sich auf seinen Schlangenstab. Zwischen ihnen steht Telesphoros. Kommentar: Zweifach gelocht, wobei eines der Löcher zur Präsentation der Rückseite, aufgrund der Darstellung der Heilsgötter wohl im Sinne eines Gesundheit bringenden Amuletts, geeignet ist. - Die Erhebung des Pupienus und des Balbinus zu Augusti bzw. des Gordian III. zum Caesar erfolgte am 22. April 238, und ihre Regierung währte 99 Tage, endete also am 10. Juli 238. Zwischen diesen Zeitpunkten muss die Münze entstanden sein. Die Rückseite zeigt eine Trias von Heilgöttern. Asklepios genoss in Aigeai einen florierenden Kult; das dortige Asklepieion war weithin berühmt [dazu Haymann (2014) 157]. An seinen Tempel war seit Severus Alexander (231/232 n. Chr.) eine Neokorie gebunden. Die vorliegende Münze mit ihrem dreiteiligen Aufbau auf Vorder- und Rückseite spielt geschickt mit den jeweiligen Hierarchien und verbindet über diese Verzahnung die Herrscher mit dem Heilsgedanken.
