Description
English: Depicts, left-to-right: Robert Purdy, Vladimir (Laddie) Derenchuk, Ahmed Mohammed Ghander, Wallace (Wally) Mulholland, Horst Wilhelm (Bill) Uzat, Gerry Miller, and Alan (Al) McIlwain. Bill Uzat is standing inside the high-voltage cage that encloses the duoplasmatron, presumably with the voltage switched off.

This was Ahmed's thesis at the University of Manitoba. He later developed a more compact and higher-current ion source at Aston University, Gosta Green (Birmingham).
