Description

Agama sinaita wikispecies Agama sinaita

English: Agama sinaita, Jordan. This species is common in deserts offshores of the Red Sea. While in heat, the color of the male turns a striking blue in order to attract females.
עברית: חרדון סיני, ירדן.

מין זה נפוץ במדינות השוכנות לחופי ים סוף ושלוחותיו. בישראל הוא נפוץ באזורים סלעיים בנגב, בערבה ובבקעת ים המלח. שמו המדעי ניתן לו מאחר וזוהה לראשונה בחצי האי סיני.

בעת הייחום צבעו של הזכר הופך כחול עז והוא נעמד על סלע בולט כדי למשוך נקבות.
