Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Maa Ashapuri temple, also called Ashapuri Mata temple, is a hilltop Hindu goddess temple about 25 kilometers southwest of Baijnath, Himachal Pradesh. It was built in the 17th-century by Raja Vijaya Rama. A hike leads to the temple site and it has sweeping views of the central Himalayas.

This Shakti tradition is a stone temple. It has a square plan architecture with a mandapa, a Nagara style sanctum and shikhara. The sanctum has an pratima of Ashapuri Mata, an aspect of Durga–Parvati. Behind the main temple is a shrine for Shiva.

This temple should not be confused with the historic Ashapuri temples of Bihar, West Bengal and other states.
