After such a remark-able advance during the past ten years, and withsuch a splendid condition existing to-day, we shouldrightfully expect the near future to be heavy withenlargement and permanent progress. The nextfew years will witness unprecedented progress alongeducational and industrial lines. But what will bethe religious, the social, and the moral condition ofPorto Rico to-morrow? This question is of themost vital interest to Christ and to his Church. Theanswer will in part depend upon the movements ofgovernment, upon educational advance, and upon in-dustrial prosperity. But with all these outward con-ditions and above them the answer to this questionwill depend upon the loyal sacrifice and activity ofthe Christian forces of America to-day.
