500px provided description: About 20,000 years ago, the entire Alpine area was covered by a thick layer of ice, the region of Lower Franconia was covered with a treeless tundra. A rare witness of this period in time is the Adonis flower (Adonis vernalis). Today, already in early spring these flowers covers the dry grasslands with piles of flowers, only then is there sufficient moisture for this plant from the snow melt.
