Adding stones to make the tower more robust?
Der Turm soll möglichst stabil sein: was würden Sie tun?
Summary
[edit]DescriptionAdditivismus (Psychologie).jpg |
A., Hales, A.H. et al. People systematically overlook subtractive changes. Nature 592, 258–261 (2021). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-021-03380-y . Das Bild entstand in der Mathe-AC Lernwerkstatt in Aachen. Eine kurze Beschreibung steht auf https://www.rhetos.de/html/lex/additivismus.htm
English: Most people would add three stones to the top layer to give more stability to this structure. The task was to keep the figurine safe even when a heavy weight is placed on top of the structure. A subtractive approach (KISS-Principle) would be to simply remove the solitary top stone. This image here illustrates a similiar experiment equivalent in its outcome. The original experiment is described in: Adams, G.S., Converse, B.A., Hales, A.H. et al. People systematically overlook subtractive changes. Nature 592, 258–261 (2021). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-021-03380-y |
