Description
English: Half-length portrait of a seated man in uniform. "A. B. Smith 1st Sert Co (B) 33d Mo" (written below image). "Sgt. Adam Burns Smith later a 2nd Lt. killed in action in Helena Ark July 4, 1863" (written on reverse side). A Smith was the 1st Sergeant and later 2nd Lt. of Company B, 33rd Missouri Volunteer Infantry. He was killed at Helena, Arkansas on July 4, 1863 at the age of 23 (Missouri digital soldiers records).
