English: Some of the active dipole antennas of the Giant Ukrainian Radio Telescope (GURT) operated by the Institute of Radio Astronomy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located in the Kharkiv region, Ukraine. It is a phased array radio telescope which receives radio waves in the range 8-80 MНz emitted by aatronomical objects in the sky. The basic antenna unit, shown here, is a 5x5 array of 25 crossed dipole antenna elements mounted 1.6 m above the ground, with a separation of 3.75 m. Many of these subarrays are scattered over the landscape. |
