Russia is one of the few countries considered to be in two continents: Europe and Asia (and once, even North America). The only other countries found in both Europe and Asia are Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Examples of transcontinental nations in the rest of the world include Egypt (Africa and Asia), Panama (North America and South America), Indonesia (Asia and Australasia), and the United States (North America and Oceania).

Note: Republic No 13, labeled 'S Ossetia' (or 'Severnaya Ossetia') is actually 'Northern Ossetia'. 'Southern Ossetia' is located south across the border in the country of Georgia.
