Description
Italiano: Acerenza: uno dei * Borghi più belli d’Italia *, denominata *città cattedrale* per l’imponente tempio che troneggia al centro del borgo antico, dedicato a Santa Maria Assunta e a San Canio (XI-XIII sec.).

Sorge su di una rupe, racchiusa tra il fiume Bradano e il torrente Fiumarella. Per la sua posizione il poeta latino Orazio definì * caelsae nidum Acherontiae*, *il nido d’aquila dell’alta Acerenza*, mentre scrittori come Tito Livio e Procopio la citarono come *fortezza di guerra* e *presidio*.

Una volta in paese ci si perde tra i vicoli del borgo antico dove si susseguono fontane e palazzi di pregio, molti dei quali con cortili interni, decorati di stemmi e portali in pietra.
