| Description |
English: Elevation view and top view of half a cube. The notations are the same in this image. The colours and the notations are the same in this other one. T is the upper vertex of the original cube, S is its center, (TS ) is vertical. h is the difference in height between the endpoints of any edge of the cube. A horizontal plane passing through S intersects the original cube. The cross section is a regular hexagon, each vertex of which is the midpoint of an edge of the cube. Whatever the sense of the rotation, one third of a turn around (TS ) transforms into itself the original cube and its half. Such a rotation also preserves any cross section perpendicular to (TS ). This image evokes the set of the hexagonal cross sections of a cube orthogonal to a diagonal line of the cube.
