Kommentar: Bei den Seidenbaumedaillen handelt es sich eindeutig um Auszeichnungsmedaillen. Diese Goldmedaille ist möglicherweise ein Unikat. Vor 1788 sind keine Goldmedaillen an Seidenbauern vergeben worden. T. Hoffmann, Jacob Abraham und Abraham Abramson. 55 Jahre Berliner Medaillenkunst 1755-1810 (1927) ordnete das Stück fälschlich unter seiner Nr. 39 ein. Von der silbernen Prägung sind um die 25 bis 28 Stücke geprägt worden. Zur Förderung des Seidenbaus wurde eine 'Immediate-Landseidenbau-Commission' eingerichtet, die ein Ausszeichnungssystem erarbeitete. Für den Erhalt einer Goldmedaille musste man eine Maulbeerplantage von mindestens 200 Bäumen anlegen, sechs Jahre Aufzucht und zweijährige Nutzung waren dazu noch nötig. Dafür konnte man eine Goldmedaille zu 6 Dukaten Gewicht und 20 Taler Barauszahlung erhalten. Jedem Seidenbauer, der erstmals 50 Pfund reine (abgehaspelte) Seide gewonnen hatte, standen ebenfalls eine Goldmedaille zu 6 Dukaten und 50 Taler Barauszahlung zu. Weitere Geldprämien waren möglich.
