Its of course a well-known fact that Lincoln, wlienalive, once saw his own body ina dream Jying in a casket in theEast Room. More strange happeningshave been taking place lately atthe White House address onPennsylvania Avenue. Staff members have told of lights onthe second floor going on andoff mysteriously, squeakingfloors, and even wall picturessomehow, changing their posi-tions. • A Nixon aide even admitstoday that he doesnt relish theidea of visiting the second floor.Soon after the Nixons movedinto the White House, this aidewent up to the second floor to besure all the lights were out. Afew minutes after returningdownstairs, the second-floorlights were on again with noexplanation. I hate to admitit, said the aide, bat I wontgo up to the second floor atnight unless someone is withme. One thing seems certain.Ghosts who do their wanderingin the White House obviouslyprefer to haunt In style.
