Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pipe organ of the abbey de la Chaise-Dieu.
The chandelier and the sunlight breaking through the church windows casts shadows of the upper organ figures.
La Chaise-Dieu is a village in the Haute-Loire department in south-central France.
After installing a first small organ with 13 stops in 1683, the French organ builder Michel Chapuis built a large case in 1727 that probably looked quite similar to today's appearance. This organ was last heard in 1791. After restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries, the condition of the organ deteriorated. It was renovated again in 1995.
