Summary[edit]
DescriptionAbandoned WW2 Air Raid Shelter and Water Tower - geograph.org.uk - 719453.jpg |
English: Abandoned WW2 Air Raid Shelter and Water Tower These abandoned and derelict buildings are situated in a field at the top of Jawbone Hill, close to the junction of Lane Head and Skew Hill roads, and adjacent to the 'new' Grenoside Crematorium. They were erected during the 1939 - 45 War and were part of an area used as an Anti-Aircraft Battery or Searchlight Unit. Nowadays, you can often see the 'local' horses standing in the shelter ... perhaps dreaming that they are in the starting gates at Doncaster Racecourse! |
