A very worn Roman silver denarius
Description
English: A very worn silver Roman denarius, probably of uncertain late Republican to early Imperial date, dating to the period c.100 BC-AD 96. Reverse type depicing Victory(?) standing left holding unclear object in outstretched right hand, uncertain object in left, [...]O[...] in field to right. The obverse is uncertain and has perhaps been double struck or suffered from damage (burning?) either during the lifetime of the coin or post-depositional. Cf. RRC no. 516/5 for a possibly similar reverse type.
