Summary[edit]

Description
English: A statue of Sir Walter Scott. This statue, located outside the Clovenfords Hotel, was sculpted in 1909 by James Archibald of Galashiels. The body was made from an old suit filled with paper maché and the head was formed in clay. Archibald made a plaster cast two years later which he filled with rags and reinforced with metal. The statue was erected in 1911 where it has remained ever since. (Source: village information board).
