Moore and Daugherty were appointed a committee to drafta constitution and by-laws, which were adopted at a meeting ofMay 23d. It was ten years afterward (August, 1876) before Aldrt FireCompanj No. 1 was organized and the first systematic effort made tofurnish the town with protection against fire. Churches and Societies Pierceton has three church societies which are well supportedwithin its limits—the Methodist Episcopal, Presbyterian and Bap-tist.
