Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is a specimen of a mature Psephurus gladius (Chinese Paddlefish), which is currently exhibited in the Tianjin Natural History Museum. According to the description on its official website (Link: http://www.tjnhm.com/onetuwen.aspx?id=65), during Émile Licent's expedition alongside the Bo Sea in 1921, he captured a Chinese paddlefish on November 12th, which had a length of 1.12 meter. However, it's different for me to distinguish the image on the webpage from the specimen that is actually exhibited at the museum. The original specimen on the webpage may be exhibited in the Musée Hoangho Paiho, the predecessor of Tianjin Natural History Museum, which is located within the campus of Tianjin Foreign Studies University. On July 21st, 2022, the IUCN updated its latest Red List evaluation regarding the family of sturgeon, which declared the formal extinction of the species.
