Title
A single view of a buckle and plate.
Description
English: The buckle has been cast from copper alloy. The buckle plate is possibly cut into shape. The length of the frame and plate together is 26.8mm and is 19.7mm across the frame.

The buckle is a 'D' shape in plan, with an off-set strap bar. The upper surface of the buckle is bevelled. At the apex of the loop, the frame has a notch for the pin. However, the pin is now missing.

A single buckle plate is attached to teh strap bar. This plate is rectangular in plan. At the centre of a narrow edge there is a single rivet hole. The opposite edge to this has two arms protruding which are culed around the strap bar. One arm is incomplete.

The buckle frame and buckle plate has developed a shiny dark green patina.

Patrick Ottaway dates a similar buckle and plate to the 12th to early 15th centuries.
