Title
A single view of a Roman brooch.
Description
English: The brooch is a Roman Colchester type brooch, but its sub-classification is not known. These types of brooches date to the 1st to 2nd century. It is made from cast copper alloy.

Only the lower portion of the brooch remains. The bow has been broken at an oblique angle and is quite flat, however it is not recent. The bow is oval in section and tapers to the bow foot. The bow is undecorated. The foot is sub-circular in section and is only slightly bulbous. Behind the bow is the solid catch plate, which has its curved edge missing.

The brooch has traces green coloured patina, but generally the surface is abraded. It weighs 3.3g, and measures 13.07mm wide across the upper portion of the bow and is 26.86mm long.
