Title
A single view of a Post Medieval strap mount.
Description
English: The mount is a strap fitting made from cast copper alloy. The circular sectioned studs on the reverse suggest the function. It probably dates to the late Medieval, but most likely early Post Medieval period, c. 16th to 17th century.

In plan the mount is a drop-shape with a knop protruding from the edge of the base. The upper tip forms a lis shape in plan. The upper surface is decorated with cast scrolls and borders. It is the style of the decoration that suggests an early Post Medieval date. On the reverse the mount has two integral circular sectioned studs. On is upright with just the tip bent, the other mount is incomplete and terminates with a blunt point. In profile the mount is bent at the lis portion, this damage may be recent.

The surface of the mount is corroded and abraded. There are areas of red copper alloy corrosion. The mount measures 31.35mm long and 17.52mm wide. It weighs 4.4g.
