Title
A single view of a Post Medieval buckle.
Description
English: The object is a double-looped sub-rectangle buckle frame. Whitehead (Whitehead, R. 1996 Buckles 1250 to 1800 Greenlight Publishing.) illustrates similar shaped and decorated examples, for example No. 442 and 448. The frame is made from cast copper alloy.

The frame is a double loop type which is sub-rectangle with rounded corners in plan. The terminals of the strap bar are moulded with three knops. The frame is slightly narrowed at either side of the strap bar. The apex of the loops have a small notch. The strap bar is narrowed and is trapezoidal in section. The surface of the buckle frame is corroded and has lost its original surface. There are traces of iron staining on the strap bar and side of one loop.

The buckle measures 21.74mm long and 13.58mm wide. It weighs 0.9g.
