Title
A single view of a Post Medieval buckle.
Description
English: The object is a double looped oval shaped buckle. It is made from cast copper. Whitehead dates a similar buckle (No. 392) to the mid 16th to mid 17th centuries.

Originally in plan the buckle would be an oval shape, however the frame has been slightly mangled and one loop is slightly twisted upwards. On the exterior edge of each loop apex there is an integral moulded decoration in the form of a flower. The strap bar is narrowed, and is trapezoidal in section. There is iron staining around the strap bar suggesting the pin was originally iron. The pin is now missing.

The buckle frame has traces of a mid green patina, but the majority of the surface is corroded. The buckle measures 32.64mm long and 24.22mm wide. It weighs 5.6g.
