Title
A single view of a Medieval buckle plate.
Description
English: The object is a single sheet of a buckle plate, probably dated to the Medieval period. It is made from cast copper alloy.

In plan the plate is a sub-rectangular shape. On terminal has a rectangular slot in the centre, thereby forming two arms. In profile these form a curve which originally would have been the fold of the plate around the strap bar and the slot would make room for the pin. The opposite terminal has two incomplete rivet holes. The upper surface of the plate has been either tinned or silvered. The reverse of the plate has developed a mid green patina.

The plate weighs 0.5g and measures 22.8mm long and 8.9mm wide.
