Title
A profile and plan view of a Medieval thimble.
Description
English: The object is a late Medieval thimble made from copper alloy. Holmes illustrates similar examples in figure 2.

The shape of the thimble is that it has straight, but slightly tapering sides to a slightly rounded, but pointed apex. The rim is sub-circular in plan with a crack in the rim, on opposite sides to each other. These cracks then form folds. The exterior of the rim is undecorated and has a linear groove above it.

The indentations start above this groove. They are small conical shaped. They have been positioned in rows. Around the apex of the thimble there are no indentations.

The surface of the thimble has occasional pitting, but there are large areas of a dark green patina.

The thimble measures 19.1mm tall, 20.8mm wide and 18.5mm thick at the base. It weighs 10.31g.
