It is asserted that arsenicproduces devitalization of the tibrilhe as far as the eenu-ntum,and, in some cases, even in\()lves that tissm-, while after instan-taneous extirpation t)f the pulp the vitality of the dentine is tosome extent preserved by the circulation it receives from thecenicntum. Practical experience shows that usually instant devitalizationor extirpation is the most satisfactory in general and tinal re-sults. Arsenic, when used, should he ai)i)lied directly to thepulp in the smallest (piantity possible to ettect its devitalization,and securely sealed in the cavity.
