Summary
[edit]DescriptionA pair of Phoenixes in Portland Harbour - geograph.org.uk - 1600183.jpg |
English: A pair of Phoenixes in Portland Harbour "Mulberry" harbours was the code name given to the temporary harbours used to offload cargo during the Allied invasion of Normandy. Part of these were reinforced concrete caissons, called Phoenixes, as seen in this photo, which were floated across the English Channel to form the "Mulberry" harbour breakwaters. |
