Title
A late 17th century glass wine bottle.
Description
English: A late 17th century glass wine bottle (AD1670 – 1700). The base of the bottle has a kick-up to trap the sediment in the wine and it also bears the circular scar from where the bottle was attached to the blowing tube. The bulbous body of the bottle gradually expands to the curving shoulder. The neck gradually tapers to the rim. The top of the bottle is broken and missing just above the string rim. The remains of the cork are still present at the top of the neck. The string rim has a D-shaped cross-section. The glass is a dark green with frequent irregular air bubbles. There is no patina. Dimensions: diameter: 134.16mm; length: 184.57mm; weight: 913.6g.
