An interesting tradition is recorded of oneof the lairds of Lamond, who had unfortunatelykilled, in a sudden quarrel, the son of Mac-Gregor of Glenstrae, taking refuge in the houseof the latter, and claiming his protection,which was readily granted, he being ignorantthat he was the slayer of his son. On being,informed, MacGregor escorted him in safety tohis own people. Besides the clans already noticed, there areother two which, according to Skene, are setdown by the genealogists as having originallybelonged to the Gallgael or Celts of theWestern Isles; these are the Robertsons orclan Donnachie, and the Macfarlanes. Tradition claims for the clan Donnachie adescent from the great sept of the Macdonalds,their remote ancestor being said to have beenDuncan (hence the name Donnachie) the Fat,son of Angus Mor, Lord of the Isles, in thereign of William the Lion. Smibert thinksthis is certainly the most feasible account oftheir origin.
