er of thevenerable John T. Morgan, a Welchman, who pioneeredto California in 1855 and there became a successfulbusiness man and banker. Mr. and Mrs. Moore met whileattending the Worlds Sunday School Convention of thePresbyterian church at Denver, in 1901, both being mem-bers of that denomination, and their marriage resultedin consequence of that meeting. The home life of thiscouple has been most idyllic in all its phases, and theyhave two sons,—John Morgan and William Aubrey.Mr. and Mrs. Moore are both enthusiastic church work-ers and are immersed in the activities of the variousdepartments of their church in Tyler. Mr. Moore is anElder, and has represented his church and congregationin Presbyteries and Synods at various times, and at-tended the General Assembly of the church at Mobile,Alabama. Their lives have been characterized by astrong religious faith and fervor, and both enjoy theesteem and hearty good will of all who share in theiraeouaintance and know them for what they are.

One of the substantial and honoredcitizens of Kaufman county, Mr. Lewis has been a res-ident of Texas since his boyhood days and is a scion ofa sterling pioneer family that was founded in the LoneStar commonwealth nearly sixty years ago and abouta decade after the admission of the state to the Union.He has marked the passing years with worthy accom-plishment, has witnessed the development and upbuild-ing of the noble commonwealth that has long been hishome, and is one of the representative citizens of Kauf-man county, his attractive home being a fine farm ad-joining the village of Forney, where he was formerlyengaged in the mercantile business. Mr. Lewis has beenone of the progressive men of Texas, has contributedmaterially to the civic and industrial advancement ofthe state, and he further has the distinction of havingmade a gallant record us a soldier of the Confederacyin the war between the states.
