ng pains. Scout Cooley declared: Ill say they do! The boys were told that it was agood test of scout ability to make it toCartersville and back starting at 9:10oclock yesterday morning. That gavethem until 7:10 last night. Neitherhad been there before, so the trip hadan added zest. Julius said: The roads were bad most of the wayand we saw convicts working them nearCartersville. We took our lunches withus and ate them along the road at astream, and had supper when we re-turned home. There were no accidentsexcept that I hit a bump and fell once,throwing me off on my side, and Ralphspedal struck me. I was not hurt butlost a little breath and saw a few stars.It was a great trip. The boys reported to Scout ExecutiveBennett and are due to receive theirmerit badges soon. Part of the test hadbeen completed before. A GLIMPSE OF MOBLEY (DeSOTO) PARK AND LAKE The hill to the left was where Philip W. Hemphill, one of Romes founders, built hishome. The park property has been acquired for the Greater Darlington School, and removalto the site will mark a new era in that institutions career. GIRL SCOUTS HEAR TALK—At the Lindale Methodist church Sundayafternoon a large number of girl scoutswith their captains and lieutenants as-sembled to hear Mrs. Juliette Lowe, ofSavannah, an international figure inthe scout movement, make an addresson scouting. Mrs. Lowe, who lived for many yearsin England, told of the organizationthere of the Boy and Girl Scouts, andof the work of Baden Powell, who wasso impressed by the splendid work doneby the boys in the Boer war that he de-termined to train the youths of Englandin some of the minor details of war re-gardless of whether they were ever tobe soldiers or sailors. Receiving enthusiasm and inspirationfrom Mr. Powell, who is a warm person-al friend of hers, Mrs. Lowe
