others & Company, was estab-lished in 1878, and later Mr. Robinson formeda joint stock company to operate the Louis-ville Woolen Mills, of which he became thepresident. He was also one of the foundersof the Louisville Cotton Mills, of whichhis son William A. became first president. Years before this Mr. Robinson, with otherprominent business men, established the Un-ion Lime & Cement Company, of which hebecame president. For six years he was a di-rector of the Louisville & Nashville Rail-road, and for five years of the Elizabethtown& Paducah Railroad Company. He was alsoa director of the Louisville Bridge Company. )\Ir. Robinsons religious faith was an ele-ment of his life and prompted him to the mosthonorable relations with his fellowmen, it be-ing manifest in every transaction where heendeavored to put into practice the goldenrule. In 1882 he was elected thefirst honorary life member of the LouisvilleBoard of Trade. The public benefactions of Mr. Robinsoncover a wide territory and a great variety ofobjects. He made large donations to severalworthy institutions and contributed with largeliberality to every worthy charity or societyto assist the poor or the unfortunate. Therewas no educational cause or institution whichdid not find in him its most powerful ally andmost capable supporter. It was not wonder-ful that in the life of this large-souled, un-swerving, conscientious man all the generousand philanthropical affections should growand flourish. He felt himself enobled by hiswork.
